A typical prescription looks similar to this:
Depending on the optical store's practice, the template of your prescription may differ slightly. However, the details we require on your prescription would be the sphere (sph), cylinder (cyl) and its corresponding axis, as well as the pupillary distance (PD). Occasionally the PD may be recorded as monocular (each eye separately, as seen above) or binocular (a combination of both eyes).
The sphere values indicate the degree of myopia (i.e. short-sightedness) or hyperopia (i.e. long-sightedness) that you have. A negative (-) sign infront of the sphere value means you are short-sighted or myopic. A postive (+) sign infront of the sphere value means you are long-sighted or hyperopic.
The cylinder values indicate the degree of astigmatism that you have. It is usually recorded with a negative (-) sign in Singapore.
The axis indicates the orientation of the astigmatism. It can be anywhere from 1 to 180 degrees.

Should you decide to order prescription lenses with your frame purchase, you must be at least 16 years of age, and not have any eye disease or medical condition that may affect vision (in accordance with the regulations set by Singapore's Optometrists & Opticians Board). You will be required to provide a valid prescription from your optometrist or ophthalmologist for verification before we can proceed with your prescription lens order. You are strongly advised to have your eye health and prescription checked before purchasing any prescriptive eye wear.

As our frames and sunglasses are assembled-upon-order, please allow up to 14 business days from your order date for us to craft and ship your items. If you have opted for prescription lenses to be made, please allow 15-20 business days from your order date for us to fulfil your order. An email with a tracking number will be sent to you once your order is shipped.
Once shipped, you should usually receive your order within 3 business days.
You may visit our partner clinic to have your glasses adjusted by an optometrist. You are advised to contact them for an appointment before heading down. Frame adjustment services are complimentary for frames purchased from wear-axis.com.

As per regulations in Singapore, if you are buying your frames with prescription lenses online, you are required to provide a valid prescription. Therefore, you will be asked to complete the Prescription Verification form in your cart before checkout. This is to allow our optometrists to verify the prescription you have provided before we are able to process your lens order.
*Please ensure your prescription also contains the following information:
- Your full name, date of birth
- Date of eye examination
- Name of the prescriber, including the address of the optical practice
- Pupillary distance
- Issue date and expiration date of prescription

In the above example, the binocular PD is 64 mm.
Your pupillary distance refers to the space between the centre of your pupils, which are the smaller darker circles in both eyes. The unit of measurement is always in millimetres (mm) instead of centimetres (cm). If it is not provided in your spectacle prescription, you can get it measured on your own. All you need is a mirror and a ruler.
Start by following these steps:
Stand approximately 30cm away from a regular mirror.
Hold a ruler against the top of your eyebrows.
Close your right eye, and align the ruler so that the 0mm is in line with the middle of your left pupil.
Look straight ahead at your own reflection.
Now open your right eye, and keep your left eye closed.
The millimetre (mm) that is in line with the centre of your right pupil reflects your PD.
If unsure, record this result first and repeat steps 1-6 several times to ensure the results are accurate and consistent.
Why is your pupillary distance important?
All uncut ophthalmic lenses have an optical centre, which refers to a zone within the lens that your eyes should be viewing from.
Having your PD measurement allows us to determine the correct position of wear, or the ideal horizontal position of the optical centres for the lenses in your frames.
This is especially important for anyone with higher prescriptions above ±3.00 (300 degrees), as a well centered lens reduces any visual discomfort produced by unwanted deviations of light when seeing grossly off-centre from the intended optical zones.

As a rule of thumb, increasing the lens index allows the lenses to be thinner.
The amount of the lens thickness is dependent on the values in your prescription. The higher your prescription values, the thicker the appearance of your lenses (in a standard sized frame).
We recommend higher index lenses if you have prescription values of or above 300 degrees. This not only prevents the lenses from looking thick and obvious (when mounted on the frames), but also reduces any effect of 'magnification/minification' on your eyes when worn, keeping them lightweight and comfortable for wear throughout the day.
At wear-axis.com, we provide prescription lenses with a multi-coat that provides UV400 protection, anti-reflection and scratch-resistance. Most establishments provide standard optical lenses with a 1.56 lens index, which is generally recommended for prescriptions with combined values below ±3.00 (300 degrees). We offer our prescription lenses in several different indexes:
1.60 index
Optical lenses with an index of 1.60 are thin and durable, and usually recommended for prescriptions with combined values ranging between Plano and up to ±4.00 (i.e. 0 to 400 degrees).
1.67 index
Thinner lenses with an index of 1.67 is highly recommended for any prescriptions with combined values that fall within a range of between ±4.00 and ±5.00 (i.e. 400-500 degrees).
1.74 index
The thinnest lens index available for mass market use, ultra-thin lenses have a lens index of 1.74 and is recommended for any prescriptions with combined values above ±5.00 (i.e. 500 degrees) onwards.

Alternatively, you may opt to purchase the frame without lenses and have your prescription lenses done in an optical practice of your choice.
All spectacle frames have limited manufacturers' warranties. In the event that the frames (or parts thereof) are found to have manufacturing defects, we will attempt to resolve it by providing replacement frames of the same model, or a full refund if the same model has been discontinued.
We do not cover any damages arising from misuse, abuse, mishandling or from normal wear and tear usage.
In the unlikely event that your items are damaged during shipping/delivery, email us within 48 hours upon receipt, providing your order reference, pictures and videos of the damages so that we can follow up on the matter.
